Emma Wilson gets dark, down and dirty on the blues rocking album from the narrow alleys with a core team Mat Hector/dr, MarkNeary/b-key and Adam Cetwood/g . She boogies hard on the shuffling “Not Paying” with Alessandro Brunetta adding a Chicago wind howl on the harmonica, while delivering foreboding messages around ominous riffs on the husky “She Isn’t You”. The team gets funky while Wilson gets defiant on “Rack ‘em Up” and the James Brownish “Nuthin I Won’t Do” and the riffs get juke joint gritty for “Blossoms Like Snow”. She has sweet fun on Mary Lou and gets jazz on “Back On The Road” and closes out on a harrowing “Then I’m Gone”. Late night and low ceilings.
