Pianist and composer Marta Sanchez brings together a post bopping team of Alex Lore/as, Roman Filiu/ts, Rashaan Carter/b, Allan Mednard/dr and guests Camila Meza/g-voc, Ambrose Akinmusire/tp and Charlotte Greve/synth for a collection of dreamy and impressionistic originals. The melding of the two saxes create cirrus clouds of musical mist, fluffy as they hover on “Dear Worthiness” and floating over the cadence of “The Unconquered Vulnerable Areas”. Filiu’s tenor gets muscular over Mednard’s canter on ”If You Could Create It” and Lore gets prismatic with Sanchez’s arty harmonics on the prismatic title tune, standing for “Spanish American Art Museum”. Akinmusire is gorgeously melancholic with the poetic Meza during “Marivi” while the team digs in most deeply on the exciting “When Dreaming is the Only”. A lovely Latin trip through the musical art gallery.
