Jeremy Pelt: Sound Track

Possessor of one of the greatest trumpet tones, Jeremy Pelt brings together a new and fresh sounding team of Chien Chien Lu/vib, Victor Gou ld/p-key, Vicente Archer/b, Allan Mednard/dr and guests Anne Drummond/fl and Brittany Anjou/key.

The team has a classy ESP-era feel with Lu and Gould in excellent form for Pelt’s horn on “Soundtrack” while “Picking Up The Pieces” changes moods and colors around Archer’s deft guidance. Pelt is in bel canto form on the simmering “Be The Light” while his muted horn glides over Mednard’s brushes on the deft “The Darker Side”, coaxed along by Anjou’s mellotron. Drummond’s flute graciously floats on “The Lighter Side” while Gould’s keys dig into the soulful “Shifting Images” and “You and Me”. Everything here sounds fresh and alive, with Pelt riding the wave like a longboarder over Mednard on “I’m Still Standing”. Pelt keeps the tradition fresh.
