INTIMATE VOICES…May Erlewine: Tiny Beautiful Things, Graeme James: Seasons

Soft deliveries…

Vocalist and composer May Erlewine displays here intimate songwriting prowess on this album with a mix and match team of rhythm, guitars, reeds and strings. With tensile guitar, she goes soft on “Your Someone” and is relaxed on the sensitive “Changing” while vulnerable on “Could Have Been”. Some synth sounds create a misty atmosphere on “Tiny Beautiful Things” and she carries a comfy lilt to “Easy”. Parlor poems.

New Zealand singer-songwriter Graeme James gives folksy instrumentals and vocals on this rural collection of sounds. He plays just about everything from violin, fiddle, guitar, mandolin, bass, banjo, accordion and anything he finds in the attic. The banjo strings are plucked on “The Fool” while the acoustic guitar is delicate for “Sea of Infinte Possibilities. He’s got a minstrel’d voice on the subtle “All The Lives We Ever Lived” and goes indie with accordion for “The Voyage of James Caird”. Songs for the campfire.
