TRIO…Oz Noy-Ugonna Okegwo-Ray Marchica: Riverside

The trio of Oz Noy/g, Ugonna Okegwo/b and Ray Marchica/dr delve into the rich world of bop and standards on this latest album. Noy taps into his inner Wes Montgomery on a tasty shuffle of “Riverside Blues” while giving some Herb Ellis linear lines on classy “Have You Met Miss Jones”. The team has a hoot of a time giving a C&W feel to a slowed down take of the bop classic “Billie’s Bounce” and Marchica hits hard on a rocking “Donna Lee”. Okegwo solo’s out on “This Could Be The Start of Something Big” and hits hard with Marchica on “6/8 Lunch Break”, with Clifford Carter bringing in his Fender four a hip hugger of a “Sunny”. Optimistic ventures.
