New kid on the tenor sax block, Argentine Julieta Eugenio impresses the ears with this strong trio album with bassist Matt Dwonszyk and drummer Jonathan Barber, mixing originals with clever covers. Of the latter, Eugenio blows grew smoke rings on a romantic “Flamingo” and oozes sensuality on a duet with Dwonszyk for “Crazy He Calls Me”. The three dig in deep for “Snowbirds” and float laconically for “Tres”. The brass gets blue on “For Your” with her reed wafting over the interplay of Barber and Dwonszyk on “Racoon Tune” and the sleek title tune. Muscles are flexed well, can’t wait to see her hit So Cal and feel the fog roll in.
