The soundtrack for Ethan Hawke’s 2001 indie film Chelsea Walls is reissued here, with a wide range of music included. For jazz fans, the intimate and agonizing take of John Lennon’s “Jealous Guy” is visceral pleasure. There’s a lot of material that is of the rootsy/rural/Dyanesque folk genre, such as Robert Sean Leonard’s “Softly and Tenderly Jesus Is Calling” and “The Lonely 1” by Robert Sean Leonard & Steve Zahn”. Some nice folksy guitar pickings and strum by Wilco on “Promising” or the artsy “When The Roses Bloom” with Billy Bragg joining in make for a reflective and noirish sonic panorama.
