Trumpeter Avishai Cohen leads his team of Yonathan Avishai/p, Barak Mori/b and Ziv Ravitz/dr through nine intuitive interplays. All songs except “Departure” are titled by “Part” making the album a suite of sorts. Mori opens things with a solo before Cohen sighs out long tones with his vibrato on “Part I” before he puts on the mute for Avishai’s melancholia of “Part II”. Ravitz rumbles under the ominous “Part III” and uses his mallets on the rolling “Part IV”. There’s space for a drum solo here, a piano solo there, and mellow blues on “Part III” before the team departs in a soft dream. Smoke rings of sound.
