Bold voiced Sunny Bleau belts it out with her team of Nicholas A. Cocco/p-g-org, Paul Kastick/dr and Alex Karasinski/b on a live sounding album made for the local juke joint. Her delivery is dark and raspy, earnest as the team mixes moods ranging from a Tiki Roomed “Bedroom Rendezvous” to a gospel’d “On Your Way To Me.” There’s a lot of 70s styled rock as on “Let It Slide” and the boogie-ing “Denver”, with a bit of funky blues for a clever “Autumn Leaves” and some acidic hard rock on “Holy Water and Hell Fire”. Through it all, Sunny wears her heart on her flannel sleeves.
Samuel Mosching plays just about everything on this album, including guitars, basses, synths and drums, with some cameos on bass and drums by Victoria Jackson, Juan Pastor, Jeremiah Hunt and Reuben Gingrich on a collection of soul drenched originals. Jackson lays down a funky line on the laid back “No Dancing”, Pastor gives hip sticks to “Modesta” and Hunt with Gingrich keep a relaxed groove for “Winnemac”. On his own, Mosching is upbeat with some nice picking on “The Belief In Magic” and is mellow with rich chords for “Disconnect”. Clear and lyrical is “Beauty and The Beast Roleplay” and a Nashville skyline is painted on the acoustic and charming “Melanie”. Calm waters.
