Putamayo takes you to the Left Bank on this latest release, with a mix of gypsy and chanson. Echoes of Django Reinhardt are heard from Clementine’s “Quel Temps Fai-il a Paris” and the uptempo’d “J’attendrai” by Swing de Gitanes and Pomplamoose’s “Je Me Suis Fait Tout Petit”. Some classy p iano work by Daniel Roure is heard on “Un Bareau Un Ile” while Antoine Villoutreix is relaxed on “Des Fleours”. The Bguette Quartette waltzes through Je Viens Vers Toi” and the beret is tilted just right on the jaunty folk of “Tu Es Le Roi” by Scotch and Sofa with Fabien Boeuf. A walk through Givenchy.
