Fluid sounding guitarist Oli Astral creates a Pat Metheny-esque album in a trio setting with Frederic Alarie/b-synth and William Regnier/dr on a collection of incandescent originals. He mixes Alarie’s electric loops with some bluesy rock on tracks like “From the Astral” while sounding a bit like Steve Howe on the fusiony “From The Deep”. Pretty and clear strings glisten on the acoustic tinged “From The Heart” and rich spaces are formed on “Spectre Sonore”, while Regnier directs the optimistic gallop on “L’Envol”. Astral gives a rich aria on a Bachish “Avec Plaiser” that mixes jazz, classical and blues. Would love to see this guy in the States!
