Gentle and reflective moods dominate this trio album of pianist Kit Downes, bassist Petter Eldh and drummer James Maddren. The songs are almost all originals, with Downes showing a dash of Jarrett and Evans, gracious over Maddren’s brushes on “Minus Monks” and eerie for “Seceda”. Eldh and Downes brood on “Rollling Thunder” and converse with elegance on “Math Amager. Elda opens with a melodic and shadowed intro to “Plus Puls” while Maddren’s cymbals guide through the corners of “Sandilands”. The only cover is a rich and knowing take of Jimi Hendrix’s “Castle Made Of Sand”, making you hope for an Experienced tribute in a subsequent album.
