Negroni’s Trio: Esperanzas/Hopes

The trio of Jose Negroni/p, Nomar Negroni/dr and Josh Allen/b bring in various guests for almost every song on this inviting and wide ranging album. On their own, their virtues are on display for the upbeat “Que Felicidad” and the fun  “Osvaldo”. The three gents are fluid under Ismael Vergara’s festive clarinet on the intricate “Esperanzas” and percussive with tenor saxist Dr. Ed Calle on a voluminous read of “How High The Moon”. Some glorious strings are added to create a dramatic aria for Maria Toledo on “Encadenados” and the bel canto Edgar Omar on the table dance of “Petit Fleur”. Omar joines in with Luis Ortiz for a popish “Morning/Una Manana” that sounds like something for a wedding, while the strings and trio close things out on a gorgeously passioned “Mis Recuerdos”. All guest add to the party.
