Pianist and composer Michael Eckroth brings Latin flavor to his tunes along with Alex Ayala-Edward Perez/b, Joel Mateo-Juan Felipe Mayorga/dr, Peter Brainin/ts-ss, Mauricio Herrera-Carlos Maldonado-Samuel Torres/perc and guests Brian Lynch/tp and John Fedchock/tb. The trio team sizzles onder Brainin’s soprano on the deep groove of “Superspreader” with Eckroth displaying a wide grip over Mayorga’s sticks on “Invernadero”. The sticks do some nifty paradiddles on “Rain Song” while Eckroth is dances around Ayala’s bass on the title track. Lynch bops with delight on “Exotic Particles” and Fedchock saunters for the sensuous “Soul Cha”.
