Bassist and composer Levi Dover brings together an elliptical post bop team of Lex French /tp, Erik Hove/as, Olivier Salazar/vib, Andrew Boudreau/p and Kyle Hutchins/dr for an album of original compositions. There’s a chamber feel to pieces like “First Impressions” and the dreamy “MK” with French gently glistening over the shadows. Alto sax and horn give a slow minor mood to “How The Light Gets IN” and the team is prismatic with Boudreau’s piano for “L’Appel du Vide”.
