Pianist and composer Lawrence Sieberth brings together his trio of Henry Cole-Jamis Ross/dr and Yasushi Nakamura-Ricky Rodriguez/b to juxtapose with an orchestra of strings and horns to create a wide palate of moods. Sometimes, the strings are dominant for the atmosphere, dreamy with the trio on “Thorns & Roses” while other times the woodwinds, dominated by the oboe, give a suite feel for “Communion” or the melancholic “Suenos De Amor” with bass and woodwinds getting dreamy for “Waltz for the Forgotten”. Sieberth’s piano has a classical-Satie touch for “Threads of the Weaver” while going uptown with the trio on “Blue”. Tropical percussion propulses Brazilia” with the horns giving a panoramic view of life on the dramatic “Paysage Africain”. Sound track for a film to be determined.
