Bassist Angel Roman leads a cheerful and festive Latin team that includes a five piece horn section, piano, bass, and plenty of drums, drums, drums and percussion, percussion, percussion. The sizzling grooves get you on your feet along with the punching horns around trombonist Andre Hayward’s solos on “Why Not”, the bel canto “The Quest” and the bopping “3 Sisters”. Pianist Nicholas Litterski slithers on “Festive Interplay” and teams with tenor saxist Russell Haight” for a lovely and optimistic “Dreaming in Bomba” while Damian A. Garcia gives some soulful keywork to “Who Knows Maybe Tomorrow”. Roman leads the rhythm team through a kinetic “Indi-Go-Go” and a percolating Afro Cuban bopper “Not Sure So Sure”. A joyful time in the plaza.
