Get ready to get run over by a brass Mack Truck, as trumpeter John Pittman, trombonist RJ Satchithananthan and tubaist-trombone man Tom Richards team up with sole saxist Paul Metcalf, drummer Lowell Whitty, B3er Joel Visentin and even guest Aline Morales on the triangle for a wild white knuckler of a ride. The bold and brauny brass creates a swinging avalanche, as Visentin’s humming Hammond gets deep and funky for the bright punches on “Sweet Pauly’s Boogaloo” and the sassy “Rehab”. Richard’s tuba sounds like a dancing Dumbo over the percussion’s obstacle course of “Manipogo”. The band sounds like a souped up Average White Band on the funkified “Manipogo’s Revenge” and swirl like a tornado on the glorious “Black Hole Sun”. A fun and full fisted front lines slowly saunters on the soul classic “Feel Like Makin’ Love” and give a series of jabs like a middleweight on the staccato’d intro to “Skank You Very Much”. Hold on tight!
