Cuba’s Omar Sosa brings his piano and world visions to team up with Senegalese kora player Seckou Keita for a collection of gorgeous and empathetic duets that take you to the heart of jazz, namely the heart of Africa. Keita picks and strums his kora, adding rich folkish yet rhapsodic vocals to lovely and exotic tunes such as “Kharit” or the liturgical “Drops of Sunrise” while Sosa joins in for a fun and bouncy “Gniri Balma”. Somber flutelike tones float on “Rei’s Ray” and mysterious water tones ripple on “Voices On The Sea”. The entire album sounds like a serene sunset in the Sahel desert, with sparkling stars, spacious horizons and wondrous panoramas.
