Ricci/Krown: City-Country-City

Rough and ready vocalist/harmonica man Jason Ricci grinds it out with B3er and piano man Joe Krown along with drummer Doug Belote on a foot stomping mix of original and covers of blues. Ricci’s harmonica is a force of nature, blowing like a Class 4 Hurricane on “Badger The Witness” or wailing with a mile wide vibrato on the ballad “It Starts With Me”. Ricci’s voice is leathered like a catcher’s mitt on the swampy “Feel Good Funk” and the slinky take of Charles Brown’s “Drifting Blues” while the rhythm team shuffles off to Buffalo on “The Jimmy Smith Strut” and gets funky on the military snap of the title tune. Krown taps into his inner Jimmy Smith on a totally red clay read of “Ode to Billy Joe” and the team rides the El to Chicago’s South Side on “Down At The Juke”. Dry rubbed sauce.
