Rachel Eckroth: The Garden

Composer Rachel Eckroth plays a series of keyboards including the Yamaha CP70, Omnisphere, piano, Korg Minlogue, Prophet 6 and even the famed mellotron with a team of Donny McCaslin/ts, Tim Lefeb vre/b-g, Chrisitan Euman/dr and Austin White/synth on an album that sounds like King Crimson outtakes. Askance tunings make for a jarring “Dracaena” while the team is both loose, dark and uncohesive during “Under A Dark Tree” and creates more noodles than a soup kitchen on “Black Eyed Susan” Eckroth trudges through space on “Oil” and is prismatic with McCaslin’s glute son “The Garden”. 21st Century Schizoid Woman?
