Bren Holmes plays guitar, bass, mandolin and percussion while singing with Bryan Dobbs, who also plays guitars and various stringed things. There is a rotating rhythm section along with various guests on vocals. The result are moods ranging from a big beat on the Irish pubbed “Pieces” to Byrd-like mandolin and pulses on “SOS” and “Can’t Stop Thinking”. Some Everly Brothers harmony comes up on “You Say” and Brett Anderson adds her voice to the boogie of “Ugly”. Their indies are showing.
