Barrett Martin plays just about anything that can make a ding or a dong, with percussion instruments from all over the world joining in along with bass and piano while he farms out trumpet to Dave Carter and various South American percussion instruments to Lisette Garcia on this wide ranging opus of tunes.
The atmosphere has a feel similar to early Mike Oldfield albums like “Tubular Bells”, flowing, ambitious and eclectic. Asian harmonies hint at “A Siren Calls” with Caribbean street sounds abounding on “Waves Of Color”. Muted horn and hand percussion gives a hip feel to “The Roaring Sea” and the blues are brewed on “Dance of the Seven Sisters”. Tropical rain forest atmospheres take you to “The B eauty In Darkness” and “Yellow Striped Spirit Snake” while the percussion digs a rivulet on the grooved “The Elegance Of Wind”. Sublime journeys.
