Philly based drummer Tom Cohen mixes and matches macho Hammond units with B3ers Joey DeFrancesco or Dave Posmonteir along with tenor saxists Tim Warfield or Ralph Bowen, even throwing in guitarist Steve Giordano for good measure. As you might suspect the pulse is strong and exciting, as DeFrancesco and Warfield dig into Cohen’s hip backbeat on a wild ride of “Minority” while relaxing at the beach on the warm and glistening “Without A Song”. Bowen comes in for relief on a sleek “Lost” pulsed by the relentless leader, and Giordano joins in with Posmonteir for a modal rivulet of “ Along Came Betty. Filling and sticking to the ribs like dry rub ribs.
