Saxist Jacques Schwarz-Bart creates a rich world-meets-jazz album that sounds like a modernizing of Chick Corea’s original RTF. Vocalist Malika Tirolien brings wordless tones a la Flora Purim to meld with Schwarz-Bart’s thick Joe Farrell-toned tenor and Privat’s piano/keys to rich satisfaction on the lovely and pulsating “Ron Jack” or the breathy Brazilian “Love Will Win”. She pleads over Reggie Washington’s bass line on the lithe “Konk A Lambi” and is luscious while floating on “First Light”. The rhythm team of Sonny Troup: ka drum and Arnaud Dolmen/dr percolate with joy on the Afro Cuban “ Pa Gade’” and upbeat “Ami Bongo”. This one’s a buoyant joyride, and is, as the reference to RTF goes, light as a feather.
