Pianist Steven Feifke leads a swinging big band with tunes and arrangements on this enjoyable releases. The 16 piece band includes the cooing voice of Veronica Swift riding the reeds on “Until the Real Thing Comes Along” and sauntering to the chicka boom of “On The Street Where You Live”. Feifke himself delivers some nice solos on the rapid run of the title track and bounces to Dan Chimielinski’s bass on “World Travels Fast”. A take of Horace Silver’s “Nica’s Dream” swirls around Benny Benack’s trumpet, while Sam Dillon’s tenor sax is big and beefy for the elegiac “Closure”. The section work is quite clever, as on the bold “Wollongong” which serves as a vehicle for saxist Andrew Gould and the cascading “Sphinx” that has Louis Pino’s sax riding over Feifke’s soulful keyboards. Lots of ideas played out well.
