Nicolas King: Act One

High tenor vocalist Nicolas King uses this album as a 25 year anthology of his career, going back to his earliest before his voice changed up to very recent sessions. Some of the songs are like a family home movie, with informal recordings with Liza Minnelli or casual gatherings are mixed in with concert and studio sessions through the past 25 years. He does a lush duet with Jane Monheit on “But Beautiful” and his Barry Manilow-ish voice is easy on “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” showing his pop chops on “Looks Like They’re In Love” and “Life Is Just A Bowl Of Cherries/Nice ‘N’ Easy”. He also shows a Rat Pack swagger on a bluesy “God Bless The Child” and “Sing”. A musical photo album.
