Logan Richardson: Afrofuturism

Logan Richardson plays alto sax, piano, keyboards and various synthesizers along with Igor Osypov/g, Peter Schlamb/vibe-b-key, Dominique Sanders/b-prod, Ryan J. Lee/dr-b, Corey Fonville/dr, Egi Karakus/str and Laura Taglialatela/voc on this 15 song collection of funk, synth and spacey sounds. Taglialatela gives some gospel pulse to “Farewell, Goodbye” and a soulful “I’m Not Bad, I’m Just Drawn That Way”. There’s plenty of sounds that are derived from the inspiration of Brian Eno, with effects and saxes on “Sunrays” and “Awaken” with space being the place with Karakus giving a dramatic solo on “Black Wallstreet”. A tape of Great Grandmother Wolff is featured on the nostalgic “Grandma” and you get a lecture on “Phot Copy”. Where is this future taking us?
