Blues singer, guitarist and vocalist Kat Danser teams up with producer Steve Dawson/g, Gary Craig/dr, Jeremy Holmes/b, Kevin McKendree/p-key and saxists Dominic Conway/Jerry Cook for a mix of earthy originals. The horns give a R&B swampy feel to slinky stompers like “Way I Like It Done” with some hard hitting mix of Cook’s bari and Dawson’s slide on “Frenchman Street Shake”. Danser’s voice is 40 grade sandpaper rough, strutting on “Lonely & The Dragon” and getting ominous with dark guitars on “Get Right, Church” while shouting defiance on “One Eyed Closed”. She and the team can also spin a nice ballad on the 50s-ish “Please Don’t Cry” and get rural on “End of Days” while shuffling the rock for “Trainwreck”. Juke joint jumpers.
