Adam Moezinia: Folk Element Trio

Guitarist Adam Moezinia teams up with bassist Dan Chmielinski and drummer Charles Good for some modern musings on strings. At times, Moezinia tunes his guitar to sound more African a la Lionel Loueke, to exotic effect on “Lisa Lan” and “Celebration”, bringing a bit of Malian heat to the music. He also brings in some thick tones akin to Bill Frisell as he trudges through Duke Ellington’s bluesy “Azalia” and an agonizing read of Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right”. The band rocks hard on “Come On in My Kitchen” and is in free form with some rich pickings on his own “Freeze” featuring Chmielinski and “School Daze” led on by Good’s pulse. Tight and loose fittings.
