Playing a wide variety of guitars, including a nifty 7 stringer, Phill Fest creates gorgeous Brazilian musical moods with his team of Robert Prester/p-k, Pablo Bil/sax-fl, Paul Shewchuck/b, Michael Brothers/dr and Tuti Rodrigues/perc. Beatriz Malnic brings in sunshine’d vocals on a luscious “Each and Every Week”, a sensuous “O Barquinho” with Gil’s Getzy tenor and a cozy “Ela e Carioca” with Fest’s nylon strings. Fest’s own voice is reminiscent of John Pizzarelli on the cheerful “Smile On Your Face” and the team is a hoot on “Avocado” while relaxed like a Sunday picnic during “Para Lili Fest”. Brazilian beauties.
