Singing, playing guitar and piano, Jon Klages teams up with Neil Larsen/key, Davey Faragher/b, Pete Thomas/dr and a collection of background vocalists for a mix of pop and jazzy blues reminiscent of Michael Franks, Air Supply and Ambrosia. There are easy listening fm styled tunes like “Red Dirt Country” as well as stark and dark tales such as “Long-Tailed Cat” and “Remains”. He shows some rockish boogie on “Kazoos Are People Too” as well as a winsome sense of humor, here and on “Too School For Spy School”. Coy on the funky “God Bless the Columbia House Record Club” he even throws in a dash of Procol Harum on “Rosalie”. Ear friendly tunesmith.
