Bruce Brown: Death of Experience

Bruce Brown comes off as a double threat, singing with a breezy hip style like a polished Mark Murphy, while composing tunes with clever to the core lyrics. He’s supported by a cast of John Harkins/p, Brendan Clarke/b, Andrew Kickeson/dr, Steve Brien/g, Steve Crum/tp and Glen Berger/wwinds, and the team can relax on “Love Makes Us Who We Are” or bop till they drop with Brien in the lead during “Back In The Day”. Brown does a nice duet with Harkins on the starry eyed “Doreen” while the team cruises PCK with Berger’s flute and Brown’s insightful lyrics to “We Click.” The team gets prismatic while Brown gets quixotic on “Losers are People Too” and Brown is upbeat on the optimistic “Find Three Things To Be Thankful For”. If Mr. Rogers ever did bop, it might sound like this!
