Each album by vocalist Sachal Vasandani takes a different journey. His catalogue ranges from mainstream jazz to electronica. This latest is by far his most personal, creating an album of slow and deep duets with pianist Romain Collin. Vasandani is so intimate in this album that you can actually hear his sighs, sniffs and inhalations on the undulating pieces like “Summer No School”, “Beofre You Goo” and “Blackbird”. Collin has his fingers create ripples for the up close “Great Ocean Road” and is folksy on Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right”. Vasandani creates subtones on “Adore You” and reverberates on the dark “River Man” while gives a parlor atmosphere to “One Last Try”. The moods are made for a film noir, set to only flickering candles.
