Allen Ginsberg: At Reed College

This album features poet/activist/beat generationist Allen Ginsberg reciting a collection of  his  poems back in 1956 at Anna Mann Cottage, Reed College in Portland Oregon. The big thing here is that the album purports to be the first recording of the (in)famous “HOWL” which caused a big stir due to its discussion of sexual matters. His staccato reading style, almost akin to Walter Cronkite delivering the news on TV, is devoid of emotion, so the question is whether you really want to hear the thoughts of a man who was an active member of NAMBLA, a group which is devoted to pedophilia.
