Santi Debriano plays both acoustic bass and acoustic guitar with a lithe front horn section of alto saxist Justin Robinson with Flutist Andrea Brachfield with a rhythm team of Bill O’Connell/p, Valinho Anastacio/perc and Tommy Campbell-Francisco Mela/dr and guest Tm Porter on mandolin. The team is lively with Robinson in a bright mood on the Afro Cuban “Awesome Blues” and Brachfield floating with Debriano’s loping bass on the modal “Ripty Room” and the bopping “Humpty Dumpty”. Debriano delivers a rich solo work on his aria “For Heaven’s Sake” and bows gracefully with O’Connell on a lively “Beneath The Surface” while showing some nice guitar work on the percolating “Voyage”.
