Rossano Sportiello: That’s It!

Pianist Rossano Sportiello delivers an intimate and personal solo outing that mixes his own compositions with jazz standards, and to be honest, you can’t tell the difference between the two, as Sportiello has a heart born and raised in Tin Pan Alley. His stride trained fingers go rapid on the scurrying “The Sheik of Araby” and is studley in blue for “Guilty” and reflecting for “Stars Fell on Alabama”. His own pen longs on the lovely “Tomorrow, It Will Be Bright With You” and chimes on the parlor performance of the title piece. His fingers meld baroque with bop on a medley of “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered” and JS Bach’s “Prelude in C Major BMV 846” without breaking stitch. These are fingers that exude warmth.
