*****RINGER OF THE WEEK*****Vasko Atanasovski Adrabesa Quartet: Phoenix

Lyrical folk sounds from the Old World abound with Vasko Atnasovski playing alto sax, soprano sax and flute with Simone Zanchini/acc, Michel Godard/tuba, Bodek Janke/dr-tab and Ariel Vei Atanasovski/cel on nine bohemian beauties. You feel like folk dancing in a circle on traditional pieces like the frantic “Concerto Epico” as wild soprano sax sears through the beat, and the madcap “Balet” will get you swinging your partner. The mix of tuba and table make for exotic Middle Eastern troubadour tones on “Thornica” with a yearning journey with flute and accordion strolling on the Left Bank for “Liberation”. A festive cello solos in the gorgeous “Meeting” and even reggae is thrown in on “Yellow Sky”. Sounds from an open air market. Where are the smells of spices?
