Born in Tennessee and now living in NYC, keyboardist Taber Gable mixes sounds of Motown and poppish R&B on this soulful jazz album with Sarah Hanahhan/as, Andrew Renfroe/g, Jonathan Pinson/dr and Kyle Miles/b on this collection of self-penned tunes. His voice is warm and inviting, evoking thoughts of early to mid-Stevie Wonder on “Committed” and the synthy “Tears” . Other times, you feel like you’re in the world of Steely Dan with catchy phrases and grooves Renfroe’s Carlos Santana-inspired guitar solo adding grit to “Susie” and “Never Alone”. Gable’s keys are soulful and rich on “Don’t Le Life Hold You Down”, and his fingers are comforting on the relaxed “Talk To You”. Modern innervisions.
