The mother-daughter team of Suzzy Roche and Lucy Wainwright Roche create a mix of solo and harmony vocals that is reminiscent of vintage Joy of Cooking, but with a bit more folk than rock. Both play acoustic guitars, with Suzzy adding electric and ten octave 12 strings, supported by Jordan Hamlin on a slew of strings, piano, horns, drums and percussion and various guests on voice, guitar and rhythm. You get a Carter family-ish feel on “Jane” with some haunting dark shadows on “Joseph D”. Patient timing and blended voices are felt on the Irish piece “Factory Girl” with some dreamy effects on the moody “Get The Better”. Lovely folksy strums and voices meld on “Talkin’ Like You” and “I Can Still Hear You” while a bit of grunge trudges through “Ruins”. Stories to be sung.
