Johnny Never delivers some picking and grinning with John Colgan-Davis/harp, Dave Young-Ken Pendergast, Paul Patchel-Mark Shustak/perc and Mac Given/cl on this homespun serving of the blues. Never’s voice is rich and avuncular, not dissimilar to Bert Jansch, with some guitar picking a la Rev Gary Davis on “Blue Delta Blues”, the cozy “Canned Heat” and the fingers strolling on “Fall Off The Bone”. Some dark and ominous harp playing blows in on “Black Smart Phone” and “Blue Eyed Girl” and “Last Fair Deal”. Back porch blues.
