Benoit Delbecq: The Weight of Light

Parisian pianist Benoit Delbecq goes solo in a variety of creative formats, adding loops electronic and piano strings to create a tapestry of sounds. His touch is rich and dark, not unlike Mal Waldron, sparkling on “Dripping Stones” and lyrical on the tribal sounding “Anamorphoses”. Dots, dashes and splashes add texture to the tropical “Family Trees” and the tensile “Paire Et Impair” while the piano strings add a pulse to the poignant “Haven En Havre” and “Au Fil De La Parole”. Conversations with himself.
