Richly toned vocalist Femi Knight leads a hip R&B infused team of Chad Edwards-Matt Weisberg_Chris Gordon/p, Steve Gregory/g, Jonathan Pintoff/b, Randy Drake/dr, Scott Breadman/perc and a hip horn team of Mike McGuffey-Jeff Jarvis-Kye Palmer/tp, Glen Berger/sax and Jim Lewis/tb through some earthy originals and a couple covers. Her soft vibrato is effortless on the wide ranging “Give A Little” as she coos with Berger’s alto sax, while getting sassy on “Never Make Your Move Too Soon”. The team gives a Tower of Power punch as Knight jabs through “West Indian Brown” and glides around the horns on “I’m Going Home Tonight”. She’s romantic and intimate with acoustic guitar work by Gregory on “The Next Best Thing” and defiant on the funky “When A Woman’s Had Enough”. Knight packs heat!
