Emily Asher’s Garden  Party: If I Were A Window

A mix of vaudeville, klezmer, Chicago jazz and troubadour stomps are delivered by minstrel Emily Asher as she sings and plays trombone with a fun team of Mike Davis/tp-voc, Jay Rattman/cl-as, James Chirillo/g, Rob Adkins/b, Dalton Rindenhour/p, Jay Lepley and Sam Hoyt/tp, who takes the lead on the salsa’d “Chico Mezcalero. The team is playful on two steppers like “Autobus” and “Kansas City Kitty” that has Davis in fun voice. A cozy duet with Davis and Asher make for a cute “Tea For Two” with Asher getting klezmatic with Rattman on “Pharoah’s B ride” and hotcha on “There Ain’t No Sweet Man”. A dramatic duet with Ridenhour brings out the Billy Joel in her o “If I Were A Window” while she is cute as a button with Chirillo on the porch for “Small Fry”. Swinging gypsy spirits.
