Soft and pastoral pastels are painted by the breathy tenor sax of Sam Decker as he brings together the clarinet and bass clarinet of Michael Sachs, Dov Manski’s pianos, Areyh Kobrinsky on bass and drummer Nathan Ellman-Bell for eight originals. The reeds of tenor sax and bass clarinet are rich and textured as they float above the nice dive of “Filles” whle the float on the foggy “Tableaux” and clippety clop on “Falling Action”. The rhythm team trudges to Ellman-Bell’s brushes as the rumble under the meld of Decker’s warm sax and Sach’s straight stick on “Parallel Floats” and clickety clack to the puffy “ST”.
