Days Between Stations: Giants

With the cover of the album reminiscent of an early Genesis lp, the band Days Between Stations (consisting of keyboardists Oscar Fuentes Bills and guitarist Sepand Samzadeh and guests Billy Sherwood/voc-g-dr, and vocalists Colin Moulding, Duga McBroom and Inid Abiza) gives a good prog rock session here, complete with mythological themes and lyrics. The music gives hints of ELP, with complex keyboards, dark voices ( with Sherwood similar to John Wetton) and dramatic seques and journeys, as on  and “Spark Of Life” with Durga’s haunting lead on “End of The World Waltz”. Samzadeh sears through a King Crimson-ish trudge on “The Common Thread” with some spacey effects by Bills with the team rocking to Moulding on “Goes By Gravity”. The music sounds fresh, holding the fuse to fusion well.
