Analog Players Society: Tilted

Tenor titan Donny McCaslin teams with pianist Orrin Evans, bassist Dezron Douglas and hard hitting drummer Eric McPherson for three 10 minute songs filled with sparks and energy. McPherson rides the cymbal with punishment with Evans’ hands in a Hancock grip on the elliptical “Freedom Is, But A Fraction of Humanity!”. McCaslin is in a Rollins mood on a rubust take of “One Note Samba” in a post bop format with Douglas and McPherson hitting the road hard. Evans has firm hands, and pulls out a toy  piano for a clever take of Thelonious Monk’s “Epistrophy” that bops with Super Ball bounces. Caffeinated moods.
