Taking the music and inspiration of famed bluesman Huddie William Ledbetter, aka “Leadbelly”, drummer Adam Nussbaum teams with guitarists Steve Cardenas and Nate Radley along with tenor saxist Ohad Talmor to take you on a rural road with different tones, but the same red dust.
The songs sometimes make you feel like you’re in an environment in the Delta, as Nussbaum uses his cymbals to create a chugging train on the charging “Rock Island Line” , or he ambles along the wooden path on the lanky stepped “Governor Pat Neff”. Talmor’s tenor puffs out a pastoral story on “If It Wasn’t For Dicky” and he floats over Nussbaum’s strolling brushes and strolling guitars on “Relax Your Mind”. A country-western lilt is strummed to the clippety-clop of “When I Was A Cowboy” and the team lurks around the corner on the bluesy “Princess Elizabeth”. A trip through a sepia toned photo album.
