Harold Lopez-Nussa: Te Lo Dije

Harold Lopez-Nussa plays piano, keyboards and even sings a bit as he mixes Latin sounds with post bop with a core team of Mayquel Gonzalez/tp, Julio Cesar Gonzalez/b, Ruy Adrian Lopez-Nussa/dr and a collection of guests on this collection of originals. Festive street sounds abound, as on the hand clapping “Habana sin Sabanas” with joyful horn and the cadence of  “Jocosa Guajira” with guest Kelvis Ochoa singing along in lead. A mix of modern jazz and salsa takes place on a number of pieces, such as the sizzling “Jazzton” with Randy Malcom at the mic, with some dark harmonies for Emiliano Salvador’s voice on “Lila’s Mambo”. With the leader on keyboards, the team gets fusiony with some hot bass work by Gonzalez, with some solemn horn work on “Un Dia De Noviembre”. Lots of spices and flavors.
