Guitarist Tim Stine leads a flexible team of bassist Anton Hatwich and drummer Frank Rosaly through 8 fluid originals. Most of the tunes have a folksy feel to them, even as they ricochet on the Monkish “Watched Trains”. More often the three sound like a madcap version of Pentangle on the quirky “Talking Faster” and folksy “OTR” while swinging loosely on “VVVValley”. The three do some scratchy free form work on a bluesy “FADS” and make sharp angles for “”686868”. Too bad they couldn’t have found Jacqui McShee for vocals.
